Les dialectes kermaniens sont parles au centre de l'Iran, de part et d'autre d'un axe forme par les villes de Kasan, Ispahan, Yazd et Kerman. Dans sa contribution au Grundriss der iranischen Philologie, W. Geiger les appelle dialectes centraux (Centrale Dialekte). Cette denomination n'est guere satisfaisante sur le plan linguistique. On proposera ici de les appeler dialectes kermaniens, du nom de Kerman, la ville la plus importante ou un parler local s'est maintenu. sur un vaste territoire et leur nombre est considerable. Il n'en existe a ce jour aucun recensement complet et les limites exactes de la zone dialectale qu'ils occupent ne sont pas etablies. Les monographies descriptives qui leur sont consacrees sont rares. On a donc entrepris l'exploration de ces parlers. Les enquetes, dont les resultats sont presentes ici, ont ete realisees entre 1969 et 1974. sont situes dans une zone comprise entre les villes de Kasan, au nord, et Yazd, au sud (Peeters 2002)
